Development direction of Rivendell

After we go 1.0, we will be "two-tracking" releases, in a manner similar to how the Linux kernel is distributed. User's will have the choice of installing the "stable", well-tested version, or the "bleeding edge" version that is less well tested but has all the fancy new features.
